Professional scientific societies can play a major role in positively influencing the undergraduate curriculum, as well as science outreach initiatives at all levels. The impetus to expand the program of the annual conference was based on the success of the inaugural FORUM at Botany 2002. This year's FORUM once again focused on enhancing the educational component of our Societies' missions of botanical education and outreach.
The Botany 2003 FORUM was sponsored in part by the National Science Foundation (NSF), Project Kaleidoscope (PKAL), the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR), and the Deep Gene Research Coordination Network.
